SNAC International Applauds FDA for Exercising Enforcement Discretion for Nutrition Facts Labeling Rules

On Oct. 23, 2019, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced that it would exercise six months of enforcement discretion for the revised nutrition facts labeling regulations.  SNAC thanks FDA for responding to snack manufacturer concerns and applauds the decision to exercise enforcement discretion.  SNAC members remain fully supportive of the required updates to the nutrition facts panel and are committed to improving consumer access to nutrition information.  Additional time to comply beyond the Jan. 1, 2020 deadline will reduce waste and save SNAC members money by allowing them to use up excess film that otherwise would have to be sent to landfill.
