SNAC International plays an active leadership role in advancing policies that benefit the snack industry. SNAC International is nimble enough to quickly mobilize on key legislative and regulatory issues at a moment’s notice and disciplined enough to have a laser-like focus on snack-specific challenges. SNAC International’s government affairs team represents member companies’ interests in Washington, D.C. on a variety of issues including:

  • Food Safety Modernization Act
  • Dietary Guidelines
  • Transportation and Freight Issues
  • Free Choice for SNAP Participants
  • Fair Labor Policy
  • Implementing Achievable Sodium Reduction Policy

With an ever-evolving industry, it is critical to have an organization like SNAC International continue to keep the best interests of the snack industry as a whole at the forefront. SNAC International also educates members on what they need to know to stay compliant with food safety, labeling, transportation and other regulations.

SnackPAC
SnackPAC is the sole federal political action committee representing the snack industry. SnackPAC is funded by the voluntary contributions of SNAC members and supports candidates for political office who understand the broad array of issues facing the snack industry.
Legislative Summit
Each spring, SNAC International members visit Washington, D.C. to meet with their Members of Congress to discuss the industry’s key issues and how legislative policy affects their businesses. SNAC facilitates scheduling meetings with Senators and Representatives, and all first-time attendees are accompanied by a member of the SNAC staff. SNAC also provides thorough briefings in advance to ensure attendees are prepared to discuss the industry's most pressing issues.

Regulatory Analysis and Public Comments

The snack industry is subject to myriad federal regulatory actions taken by the US Food and Drug Administration, US Department of Agriculture, US Department of Transportation, US Department of Labor, the Federal Trade Commission, among others. SNAC International and its expert consultants provide members with analyses of these actions as they happen. Additionally, SNAC, guided by its member committees, engages with federal agencies throughout the rule-making process, including through the formulation of public comments.
