Over 1,100 agricultural and food industry organizations, including SNAC International and nearly 50 of its member companies, sent a letter to House leadership urging them to pass the agricultural biotechnology solution that was approved by the Senate last week.
The letter, addressed to Speaker Ryan, Minority Leader Pelosi, Majority Leader McCarthy, and Minority Whip Hoyer, highlighted the importance of expedited consideration and the scheduling of floor time to ensure this bipartisan proposal receives passage before Congress adjourns for the summer recess.
This timely legislation will prevent a costly patchwork of state labeling laws that will not only hurt manufacturers, farmers, and businesses but most importantly, consumers. The letter states, “Congress must ensure we avoid senseless mandates that will thwart agricultural advancement and hurt consumers – especially those low income Americans who can least afford to pay more to feed their family.”
